Church sustains damage at the hands of vandals

Members of a local church filed a complaint with authorities last week after discovering that someone had vandalized their sanctuary.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department responded to Mount Zion Church of Christ, located at 210 Mount Zion Road where they spoke with Pastor Larry Dale Laws. He indicated that, while nothing appeared to be missing, someone had broken a glass pane in the back door and one window.
The person responsible for the break-in expressed regret, writing on a chalkboard the words, “Sorry will do what it takes to make it up, I thought it was abandon.”
Damages to the church were estimated to total $450.
