Waterloo Street is reopened

Lawrenceburg Now

A section of a Lawrenceburg street that was closed last month due to concerns over the safety of one of the structures, was reopened Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency officials had closed the segment of Waterloo Street between the Lawrenceburg Public Square and Mahr Avenue in late March after noticing that the bricks at the top of the building had begun to pull away from the rest of the structure.  Authorities feared that, that portion of the building might collapse onto the sidewalk and street and opted to err on the side of caution.

Lawrenceburg Police Chief Terry Beecham said Tuesday afternoon that the potential danger has been abated and the street reopened to regular traffic.
