Qualifiers announced for August, November ballots
Lawrenceburg Now
A list of individuals who met the qualifying requirements to have their names appear on the August and November ballots has been announced and several individuals met the qualifying deadline, which was noon on Thursday.
Five individuals have qualified to vie for the now-vacant District 15 seat on the Lawrence County Board of Commissioners which will appear on the August ballot. They include: Mindy Markus, Aaron Pope, John White, Karen Woodall, and Tammy Wisdom.
Four seats on the Lawrence County School Board will appear on the August ballot. District 1 incumbent Roberta Brazier has opted not to seek re-election. The sole qualifier for that seat is Royce Neidert. In District 4, incumbent Donna Wells is being challenged by Jerry Dryden. Incumbent Ricky Mabry is the sole qualifier seeking election to the District 7 seat. And in District 8, incumbent Kevin Caruso is challenged by Mack Crews.
The August County General Election also serves as a primary for the November ballot. The 28th District seat in the Tennessee Senate is currently held by Joey Hensley. Hensley is the solitary qualifier for the Republican Primary and there are no qualifiers for the Democrat Primary. Hensley will, however, be challenged on the November ballot by Independent qualifier Joey Norman.
In the Tennessee House of Representatives local residents will select individuals to fill the 70th and 71st District seats. In District 70, incumbent Barry Doss qualified for the August Republican Primary while Calvin Moore qualified for the Democrat Primary. One independent candidate, Roy Donald Waldrop, qualified as an Independent candidate and will be on the November ballot. In District 71, incumbent Republican candidate David “Coach” Byrd is unopposed in his bid for re-election.
Finally, District 7 incumbent Marsha Blackburn qualified to seek re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives. She is the lone qualifier for the August Republican Primary. She is opposed by Tharon Chandler, who is the only individual who qualified for the August Democrat Primary.
