STEP, Inc. Presents: The Next STEP: IEP Planning and Instructionally Appropriate IEP's Workshop
Press release
If you have a child with a disability or are a professional working with children who need special education, this workshop is for you! STEP, Inc. (Support and Training for Exceptional Parents) is helping parents learn about their child's education needs and rights provided under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act). STEP is a federally funded program that provides information, training, and support to parents of children with disabilities.
This specialized workshop is designed to enable participants to understand and fully participate in the Individualized Education Planning (IEP) Team process. Participants will learn:
The types of needs and services that can be provided through “special education” services.
The information on the Individual Education Program (IEP) document and where it goes.
How to express parent concerns and ensure they are addressed by the IEP team.
Understand the process to set and write Measurable Annual Goals.
Strategies to prepare for effective participation in IEP meetings for their children and youth with disabilities.
This is a FREE hands-on workshop that is designed for parents and professionals who have attended the STEP Basic Introduction to Special Education Workshop and are now ready for the Next STEP--fine tuning the IEP document to reflect the unique needs of children with disabilities to lead toward positive educational outcomes. The workshop is sponsored by Giles County Special Needs Support Group.
This FREE workshop will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the First Baptist Church Pulaski Fellowship Hall, 407 South 1st Street in Pulaski. All parents and professionals in the area are welcome to attend. If you are interested in attending please register by calling Chrissy Hood at 931-638-2253 or via email at khood@energize.net, as the workshop seating is limited.
