Lawrenceburg man arrested for violating sex offender registry law

A Lawrenceburg man was taken into custody recently when law enforcement officials determined that he was in violation of the state Sex Offender Registry law.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that officers became aware that convicted sex offender Donald Clayton Long, age 60, was not residing at the address that he had most recently registered with the department.

Department officials made contact with Long, who reported that he had moved out of the listed address prior to his March 8 registration and had since been homeless. He said that he had been residing at an address on Gallaher Boulevard only for “a couple of days.” Reports show that officers were called to the residence “because he was living with children.”

Long reportedly told officers that “he didn’t know why he didn’t notify law enforcement” of his change in status.

Long was arrested and incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond.
