Video surveillance captures image of person who took forgotten phone

Law enforcement officials are investigating an incident during which video surveillance at a local business captured the image of a person who took a cell phone that had been left behind by another patron.

Employees of the Dollar General Store located at 902 North Military Avenue requested that a Lawrenceburg Police officer be dispatched to the store at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Employees reported that a customer had returned to the location searching for his cell phone, which he said he had left lying on the checkout counter around thirty minutes before.

Employees reviewed video surveillance which showed a woman in line behind the victim grab the phone and run to the store entrance just after he left. Employees said it appeared that the woman had been trying to stop the man. The video showed that another woman approached her and took the phone from her hand. The first woman then returned to the checkout counter to pay for her items and left.

The phone, identified as a Samsung Galaxy S4, was valued at $100. Anyone who has information about the incident is encouraged to contact the police department at 931-762-2276.
