Credit card stolen from mailbox, fraudulently used
Lawrenceburg Now
Law enforcement officials were asked to investigate after a local man reported that his new credit card that went missing from his mailbox, had been fraudulently used.
The victim, age 33, filed a complaint with Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies about the incident. He told deputies that he had been awaiting the arrival by mail of a new Capital One credit card, but that he had not received it as expected. He contacted the company and was issued a second card by mail.
After two weeks had passed and the victim had not received the second card, he said that he contacted the company once again. Company officials informed him that three local transactions had already been made with the new card.
Company officials canceled the card and advised the victim to file a complaint with police officers.
The fraudulent charges, all made at the same local market, totaled $267.28.
