Theft
Sheriff’s deputies answered a call to an Iron City Road property Tuesday where the resident reported that a large number of tools were stolen along with other items, resulting in a loss in excess of $2,500. The tools had been stolen from inside of the house, as well as underneath a shed.
Burglary
Deputies responded to Big Springs Fork regarding a burglary on Monday. The victim reported that someone had broken into her safe and stole $1,300 in cash.
Theft
Deputies spoke with a local man near the Tennessee/Alabama line Monday. The victim reported that he had purchased a Nissan Altima at a car auction during the weekend that was said to be in working order. He said the car had broken down on him on Sunday and he left it parked on the edge of a roadway and made arrangements to have it towed. He said he was notified by the tow truck driver that someone had stolen the wheels/tires and battery from the car. Although he paid $1,000 for the car just days before, he said he sold it to the tow truck operator for $125 because it was not in working condition.
Theft
A local resident stopped by the sheriff’s department Monday to report that someone had filled and picked up her prescription medication without her knowledge. When she sought her refill, she said the pharmacist informed her that it was filled on March 4 and delivered to a home on Grinnell Drive.
Theft
Deputies investigated the theft of a white Chevrolet Caprice from a Miller Lane home on Wednesday. A an individual witnessed the theft and followed the driver to Dollar General in New Prospect, onto Blessing Road, and onto the Highway 64 bypass where the driver headed west. The witness told officers that he had lost sight of the vehicle near Airport Drive. The vehicle had an estimated value of $1,000.
Burglary
Police officers responded to a Sixth Street home on Wednesday where the resident reported that a green 18 speed MT Fury bicycle with coated baskets attached, had been stolen from her porch area. He said the bicycle was worth around $125.
Vandalism
A resident of Franke Street spoke with police officers Tuesday after discovering approximately $300 worth of damage to his shrubs. A witness reported seeing two children in the shrubberies, but did not know their identities.
