Two deputies sustain injuries while serving warrant
Lawrenceburg Now
Two deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department sustained injuries while serving a warrant at a Claymar Drive apartment Wednesday.
Deputies had received a tip indicating that Bradley Garland, 27, was at the location. When they approached the apartment, they report that the door was ajar and they could see him standing inside. They report that Garland claimed to be “Bradley’s brother Bryan,” and said that he would have to go upstairs to retrieve his ID. He began to close the door and at that point deputies ordered him to place his hands behind his back so that he could be handcuffed.
Deputies report that they were able to fasten the handcuff on one arm, but that Garland then began to resist arrest. They struggled with him for a time before attempting to use an immobilizing spray. They report that it “was not effective because he continued to fight deputies.”
While they were struggling with Garland, one deputy was struck near his left eye and the other sustained cuts on his hand. The immobilizing spray was rubbed into the eyes of one of the deputies during the struggle and his finger was dislocated, requiring medical attention.
Garland eventually began to comply with the deputies’ orders. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. In addition to the original warrant, he was booked under charges of criminal impersonation, resisting arrest, and two counts of aggravated assault.
