Wednesday Crime Report
Lawrenceburg Now
Theft
Officers spoke with the owner of Orton’s Used Cars, 2435 North Locust Avenue Monday morning. He reported that he had arrived to find a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado sitting on blocks. All four wheels had been stolen. He told officers that the crime occurred sometime after 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Loss in the case was around $1,000.
Theft
On Monday, police officers responded to Express Med on North Locust Avenue where a victim reported that, while it was parked behind the business the previous weekend, someone stole the license plate off of his 1990 Plymouth. Loss was approximately $50.
Aggravated burglary
A relative of a Lawrenceburg couple filed a complaint with police officers last week. She said she had stopped by to check on the house while her daughter and son-in-law were away on a cruise. She found that a bathroom window had been broken out and someone had rummaged around inside the home. The mother said that she was certain that several pieces of sterling silver Harley Davidson jewelry had been stolen along with vehicle titles and a spare key. At that time, loss was estimated at $10,112.
Criminal trespassing
Police officers were asked to investigate recently when a West Point Road resident discovered that someone had been messing with her dogs. She told officers that during the previous night someone had entered her property and set her dogs loose. She said they were recovered by Animal Control and returned to her that morning. After she was away from home for a few hours that afternoon, she returned to find that someone had tied her dogs to a tree. The victim said that she did have a security camera on the property and would check to see whether she had captured images of the trespasser.
Theft
Owners of Shan’s One Stop, 300 West Gaines Street, filed a complaint with police officers, indicating that a man who had been warned repeatedly to stay off of the property, had damaged a gambling machine and stolen around $150 worth of quarters. The owner said there was video surveillance showing the man shaking and damaging the glass on the machine. He tampered with the locking mechanism and forced the quarters to fall to the pickup slot. Damages and loss were said to total $200.
