Crash leads to criminal impersonation charge
Lawrenceburg Now
Law enforcement officers investigating a vehicle crash last week lodged charges against a Pulaski resident for criminal impersonation.
Officers responded to 1620 Old Florence Road to investigate the wreck and made contact with three females involved. Two of the women provided their identification to the investigating officer and he was able to determine that they had no outstanding warrants. The third woman claimed to have no form of identification with her. She gave the officer a name, but when he ran a check he found that there was nothing on file for that name.
The officer spoke to the homeowner and obtained the woman’s real name. He then determined that she had outstanding warrants in both Lawrence and Giles Counties. She was identified as thirty-two year old Layla Michelle Gowder of 806 Rockley Drive, Pulaski.
Reports show that the officer again asked Gowder for her name, and that she again gave a false name. He said while she was being arrested, she began to “get loud and tried pulling away and resisting arrest.”
Gowder was eventually handcuffed and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where she was booked on charges of criminal impersonation and resisting arrest. Bond on those charges was set at $2,000.
Gowder was scheduled an initial appearance in General Sessions Court on April 6, 2018.
