Three Oaks Residents Report Attempted Home Invasion, Trespassing Incidents Involving Intoxicated Suspect
Lawrenceburg Now
Two different residents of the Three Oaks community filed complaints regarding trespassing and attempted home invasion last week, prompting law enforcement officers to open an investigation.
A thirty-eight year old woman reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies that she was on the couch when she heard a knock at the front door. She said she found a man on the porch, dressed in blue jeans and a denim jacket and that he appeared to be intoxicated.
The victim told deputies that she had opened the door six to eight inches to speak with the man and he began to ask to come inside. She said she refused multiple times and he was insistent that he needed to come in to use her telephone.
She said she began to close the door at which time the man put his hands on it and tried to push his way inside. She said she was able to use her body weight to get the door closed, then locked it and called for help. She said the man remained on the porch for a few minutes before walking away.
Another resident reported that a man had approached his mother’s home, as well, knocking on the door and seeking entrance. The victim said she noticed the man walking along the roadway and a short time later he came into her yard and was “stumbling around.” She said the man sat down on her porch for a time, then got up and began to knock on the door. She said she did not open the door, and the man eventually left.
Dispatchers received information indicating that a man of the same description had been seen going into a nearby abandoned house. Deputies made their way to the location and looked around, but were unable to locate the suspect.
Both victims identified a suspect from a photo lineup. Presently, the incidents remain under investigation.
