Victim finds stolen vehicle has been spray painted
Lawrenceburg Now
A Lawrenceburg man reported to law enforcement officers last week that he had located his stolen car, which had been camouflaged with bright blue spray paint.
The victim, a fifty-four year old resident of Tipton Street, filed a complaint with Lawrenceburg Police officers on Thursday. He told officers that he had located what he believed to be a car that had previously been taken from him. He had filed a joyriding complaint a couple of nights prior, indicating that his car was stolen after he left the keys inside.
The victim reported that he had been at Busy Bee Market on Buffalo Road when he noticed his car pass by. He said that much of the body of the car had been spray painted bright blue, but that the top was still the original color. He was able to track the car to some apartments on Bluff Drive.
The officer and the victim looked over the car and the victim was able to make a positive identification. A check of the vehicle identification number confirmed that it did, in fact, belong to the victim.
Officers were unable to determine who had been driving the vehicle. Residents of the apartment complex said that it had only been there for a short period of time. The vehicle was subsequently towed back to the owner’s home.
Damages resulting from the crime were estimated to total $2,554.00.
