Man Assaulted While Taking Out The Trash
Law enforcement officials are working to identify the individuals who assaulted a Lawrenceburg man while he was taking out the trash Monday afternoon.
Lawrenceburg Police officers responded to the emergency room at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems at around 5:45 p.m. to investigate an assault. They report that the twenty-eight year old victim had sustained bruising to his ribs, a large scrape on his right arm, and had a large bump on his left eye.
The victim reported that he had walked out of his back door shortly before to take out his trash, when he was attacked by two to three assailants. He told officers that as soon as he stepped out he was struck on the eye. After the initial blow, he said his attackers kicked him several times. He said he was uncertain whether or not he had lost consciousness.
The victim said that he was unable to see his attackers and had no idea who they were. He said he came to the emergency room because he feared that his orbital bone had been fractured. The officer said that at the time the victim was awaiting the results of his x-rays.
The matter currently remains under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to contact the department at 931-762-2276.
