Owner Discovers That Mobile Home Is Missing
The owner of a property situated at 137 Knob Creek Road reported to authorities that she had returned after being away for an extended time only to find that a mobile home was missing from the property.
The twenty-eight year old Ethridge resident told deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that she had been living in Florida for the past few years and had allowed her sister-in-law and her boyfriend to rent the property.
She said that they had failed to stay current on their rent and had moved out. She told deputies that she had moved back to Lawrence County and when she went to the property, she found that the double-wide mobile home in which the couple had resided was intact, but that a single-wide mobile that was also situated on the property, was missing.
The missing mobile home had been completely furnished. It had two porches attached to it as well as some underpinning.
Deputies noted extensive damage to the water pipes and septic tank lines that were left behind. They reported that, “It appeared as if persons did not disconnect them as they took the home from the property.” A power pole and a power meter were missing, as was the central unit from the doublewide mobile home. Altogether, loss and damages were estimated at a minimum of $14,250.
The victim told deputies that she had confronted the male resident about the missing mobile home. He reportedly told her that, “They had sole the single-wide trailer for $2,200 to an unknown female,” and that, “He had scrapped the central unit.” She provided deputies with a description of the home. She told them she would provide them with a copy of the title, as well.”
Investigation in the case is on-going at the current time.
