Man Arrested For Giving False Info To Police Officers
A local man was arrested Friday for giving false information to police officers conducting an investigation into a misdemeanor shoplifting case.
Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that the arrest was made after officers had been dispatched to Walmart on North Locust Avenue, on the shoplifting call.
Loss Prevention officers reported that they had observed a couple shoplifting some toys shortly before. They told police officers that the man had gone to a closed checkout counter and took a shopping bag, then took it to the toy department. There, they said he and a woman had placed $19.73 worth of toys into the bag, then attempted to leave without paying for them.
When officers spoke with the suspects they report that the man gave them false information, including the spelling of his last name, address, and social security number. He was identified as twenty-seven year old Diego Morrelle Daly of Third Street, Lawrenceburg.
Both Daly and the female suspect were issued citations for shoplifting. Daly was also arrested on a charge of giving false information to a police officer. He was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center and incarcerated under a bond of $10,000.
Daly was scheduled an initial appearance in General Sessions Court for April 2, 2015.
