Early Morning Apartment Fire Claims One Life

Lawrenceburg Now

Lawrenceburg Fire Department officials report that an early morning fire at an apartment complex resulted in one fatality Monday.

Lawrenceburg Fire Chief Jay Moore issued a press release indicating that firefighters were dispatched at 4:17 a.m. to Pine Bluff Apartments, located at 106 Bluff Drive.

The 911 call was placed by a person who reported hearing a smoke alarm sounding in another apartment. Moore commended the caller, saying, “This action possibly saved several lives.”

When they arrived, firefighters found that only one apartment was involved, sustaining smoke and fire damage. He reports that one person died as a result of the blaze.

Firefighters remained on the scene for some time, clearing the building at 7:03 a.m.

Moore reports, “The State Fire Marshal’s office was notified along with the District Attorney.” The fire currently remains under investigation. He said that departments assisting in the call included New Prospect Fire Department and Lawrence County EMS.
