Ethridge law enforcement makes another drug bust

Law enforcement officials with the City of Ethridge made another drug bust late last week after initiating a traffic stop.

Officials with Ethridge Police Department report that an officer initiated the traffic stop on driver Dwight James Austin along U.S. Highway 43, in the vicinity of Crossroads Building Supply.

During the stop the officer ran a check to determine whether there were any outstanding warrants against Austin, as well as his female passenger, identified as Sara Jane Parsons. They discovered a warrant against Parsons on a violation of probation charge.

While on the scene, the officer obtained permission to conduct a search of the vehicle as well as a search of both Austin and Parsons. They found that Parsons was in possession of pills identified as Percocet, Oxycodone, and Roxicet as well as digital scales and a number of plastic baggies "consistent with the sale of illegal narcotics."

During the search of the vehicle, officers report seizing a cigarette pack that contained a glass pipe and a substance believed to be methamphetamine.

The vehicle was impounded and both Austin and Parsons were transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. They were booked under charges of possession of a Schedule II narcotic for the purpose of resale and possession of drug paraphernalia. Parsons was additionally booked on the violation of probation charge.
