Man Arrested During Test Drive

Lawrenceburg Now

A Lawrenceburg man was arrested Tuesday after he was found to be taking a test drive while his license was revoked.

An officer with the Lawrenceburg Police Department reports that while on patrol in the Buffalo Road/Brannon Street area around 9:00 a.m., he noticed that a man driving a 2007 Dodge Caliber pulled out in front of another motorist, causing the second driver to lock up his brakes in order to avoid a collision. The officer noted that the man was holding up a cell phone at the time “as if he was looking at it.”

The officer engaged his emergency equipment and pulled alongside the man. He reports that the man, later identified as fifty-five year old Noah Christopher Russ, of 89 Tingle Trapp Road, said “sorry about that.” When the officer told Russ to pull over he said that he instead “took off at a high rate of speed.”

The officer pursued Russ onto Gobble Street and caught up to him after approximately two blocks. He said that once he stopped, Russ attempted to exit the vehicle, but was ordered back inside.

The officer discovered that Russ’ driver’s license had previously been revoked due to DUIs and that he was test-driving the car. Russ was arrested on charges that include driving on a revoked license, evading arrest, stop sign violation, failure to yield the right of way, texting while driving, and violation of the insurance law. He was transported for incarceration at the Lawrence County Detention Center.
