Loretto native stabbed, killed in her Nashville condo Tuesday morning

A native of Loretto who was living in Nashville died Tuesday morning after she was stabbed inside of her Wedgewood Park condo.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department report that the victim of the fatal stabbing was twenty-three year old Tiffany Ferguson, who was a critical care nurse at Saint Thomas West Hospital.

Authorities said Tuesday afternoon that at around 6:00 a.m. Ferguson’s roommate was awakened by screaming. She got up to investigate and found Ferguson had been stabbed and the front door was open. Ferguson was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she later died.

After securing surveillance video, authorities reported that a man was seen pulling on vehicle and condo doors, likely in an effort to commit burglary. They report that there was no sign of forced entry to the condo and speculate that Ferguson’s door was unlocked. They said some type of altercation ensued during which Ferguson was stabbed multiple times.

Items that were stolen from the condo were found nearby. Authorities are continuing their efforts to identify and locate the suspect as the investigation continues.
