Imposter attempts to access local woman’s bank accounts

Lawrenceburg Police officers were asked to initiate an investigation last week after a local woman discovered that an imposter had attempted to access her bank accounts.

The victim, age fifty-four, reported that she had been contacted by an employ of her bank with whom she is acquainted. The employee informed her that a woman had called, providing some of her personal information, and attempted to gain access to her bank accounts. The victim confirmed that the call was not legitimate and the bank terminated contact with the imposter.

The victim said that the caller had knowledge of personal information that would have allowed her to gain access to the accounts, but for the quick action of bank employees. The caller was able to provide bank employees with her name, date of birth, Social Security number, and her mother’s maiden name.

Bank employees told officers that the call appeared to have originated in Florida. Investigation in the matter is currently on-going.
