Man assaulted by intruder inside his home
Lawrenceburg Now
A local man sought medical attention early Friday after he was assaulted inside of his home by an intruder.
Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies spoke with the nineteen year old victim at the emergency room of Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems just after 2:00 a.m. He reported that he had returned to his Hood Hollow Road home in Five Points at around 1:15 a.m.
He said that he walked into the kitchen area and heard a screeching sound coming from the back door. He told deputies that turned in time to see a man dressed completely in black, wearing a black mask, charge at him. The victim said that he was pushed to the floor and punched a couple of times.
The victim explained that he called for his dog in the hopes that he would bite his attacker. He told deputies that at that point, the man ran out the door. He ran to a light colored, possibly silver, four-door car at the front of the house and "drove off frantically." He described his attacker as a white male, around 6'1" tall with a slight build.
The victim said that he had sustained a concussion just weeks prior to the attack, so he drove himself to the hospital to be checked out.
At the present time the matter remains under investigation through the department's Criminal Investigation Division.
