Rogers Group Inc. Wins National Award For Quality In Asphalt Paving

The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) announced today that Rogers Group Inc. of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., has won a 2015 Quality in Construction Award for excellence in construction of an asphalt pavement.

The company received its award on Wednesday, February 10, at a ceremony during the association’s 61st Annual Meeting in La Quinta, Calif. “The asphalt pavement industry is committed to building quality pavements that deliver high performance and drivability to the public,” said Michael Cote, NAPA 2015 Chairman.

“All contractor’s projects earning a Quality in Construction Award are measured against industry best practices designed to live up to our promise. I’m honored to say that, in earning a 2015 QIC Award, Rogers Group has met or exceeded these rigorous standards.”

Rogers Group won the award for its work on U.S. 64/State Route 15 in Lawrenceburg. Work involved the completion of a two-phase project that created a bypass around the southwestern portion of the city.

The project also included two new bridges and a connection to the east bypass. Rogers Group used sustainable paving techniques for the project, incorporating reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) into the mixes, which conserves natural resources.

The company also used porous asphalt pavement for the drainage base layer, which allows water to penetrate through the pavement into the soil. Rogers Group completed the project on time and under budget, producing a smooth, high-quality roadway that motorists will enjoy for many years.

Also, Rogers Group won the award for its work on I-24 in Coffee County. The project consisted of milling and paving during weekday night shifts and bridge deck repairs on weekends.

The company used reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) and recycled asphalt shingles (RAS) in project mixes, conserving natural resources. It also placed porous asphalt pavement for the travel lanes, allowing water to drain through the pavement and ultimately into the ground.

The use of this material greatly reduced the amount of road spray in wet conditions and improves skid resistance and wet weather visibility. Rogers Group built a smooth, high-quality asphalt pavement on time and under budget.
