Pre-K and Kindergarten Registration is March 27

Kindergarten registration for Lawrence County Schools will be on March 27, 2017, from 2:00 - 5:30 at the schools. Kindergarten students must be 5 years of age by August 15th.

Pre-Kindergarten registration will be available March 20 - March 31on-line on the Lawrence County Schools webpage (lcss.us). On-line registration and registration assistance will be available on March 27 from 2:00 - 5:30 at the schools. Pre-K students must be 4 years of age by August 15th. LCSS VPK programs are income-based and preference will be given to economically disadvantaged students first.

All Pre-K and Kindergarten students entering schools are required by law to meet certain immunization and medical requirements. The following information must be obtained prior to enrollment and presented to your child’s teacher or school nurse in order for your child to attend any Pre-K or Kindergarten program in the Lawrence County School System.

Certified Birth Certificate
Immunization Records on Permanent Tennessee Certificate of Immunization TCA (49-1765-1769) available from health department or family physician.
Physical Examination (No earlier than August 2016)
Social Security Card is not longer mandatory but is required for identification purposes, if available.

Your child will not be allowed to begin school without required immunizations, health physical, and birth certificate. If you have questions or need assistance in obtaining the required information, you may contact your school or the Coordinator of School Health, Josh Rogers at 762-5251 ext. 110.

Helpful Hints for Pre-K Registration

Students must turn 4 years old by August 15, 2017 A certified birth certificate is required to verify age.
Proof of income is required. Proof of income can be in the form of Food Stamps (EBT), Families First (TANF), Income Tax Return, or 3 consecutive paycheck stubs.
Enrollment is limited to 20 students per class. Students will be selected from those who meet income qualification. Enrollment will not be first come first served to ensure that all qualified children receive equal opportunity to attend VPK.
VPK classes are located at the J.C. Barnett Center, David Crockett Elementary, Ethridge Elementary, Ingram Sowell Elementary, Lawrenceburg Public, Leoma Elementary, New Prospect Elementary, South Lawrence Elementary, and Summertown Elementary schools. Preference will be given to students living within the zoned areas of the schools.
