Officers checking suspicious vehicle charge three with drug offenses
Lawrenceburg Now
Officers who answered a suspicious vehicle call Monday night issued drug charges against the three vehicle occupants.
According to Lawrenceburg Police Department reports, officers were dispatched to check a vehicle that was parked at a logging road located in the vicinity of Old Florence Road/Garner Lane at around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday.
They identified the driver of the Chevrolet Aveo as thirty-five year old Marcus Alan Skaggs of Spout Springs Road. Kristina Linn Skaggs, age 38, of the same address, was seated in the front passenger seat and the back seat was occupied by thirty-three year old Jason David Wilburn of North Main Street in Columbia. The trio told officers that they were in that location because “they wanted to see what was back there.”
The group gave consent for a search of the vehicle. Inside, reports show that officers found .5 grams of methamphetamine along with numerous items of drug paraphernalia. Items seized included a pipe, rolling papers, razor blade, and plastic baggies.
As a result of the incident Wilburn was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant for violation of probation as well as charges of possession of Schedule II narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was held under a bond of $11,000.
Both Marcus and Kristina Skaggs were issued citations charging them with the same drug offenses. All three are scheduled to answers the charges in General Sessions Court on April 7, 2017.
