Women Assault Officers Trying To Serve Warrant
Deputies who had gone to an Ann Road home to serve a warrant report that before they were able to do so, two women at the residence began to assault them.
Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that the deputies knocked on the door at 1901 Ann Road in an attempt to serve a warrant to Chad Elliott Farr, age 36.
Deputies were met at the door by resident Maxine Jenny Farr, age 64. When they asked whether Chad Farr was inside the home, they report that Maxine Farr closed the door, went to a bedroom, then returned. She told them that “she didn’t feel good and didn’t want us to come in.” Deputies asked to look inside the residence for Chad Farr and say that she again walked to the bedroom. They said they were able to hear voices coming from the bedroom.
When Maxine Farr returned to the door she asked whether deputies had a warrant. They explained that they did and she responded that she “didn’t think we should come in.” Deputies report that she attempted to shut the door in their faces, but that one of them stopped the door at the threshold with his boot.
Deputies entered the home, heading toward the bedroom. When they started to enter, they said that Chad Farr and his girlfriend, thirty-four year old Lori Beth Yates, attempted to shut the door and hold it closed.
When the first deputy pushed through the doorway, they indicate that Maxine Farr “tried to jump on his back.” Another deputy grabbed her and held her back. He reports that all three became combative at that point, and that as Maxine Farr struggled with him, Yates “was trying to choke” the other deputy.
Once Chad Farr was handcuffed deputies were able to regain some order. They issued a citation to Maxine Farr, charging her with obstruction of warrant service. Yates was arrested for assault and placed in a patrol car.
While there, she began to have a seizure and emergency medical personnel were summoned to the scene. They report that Yates repeatedly refused treatment.
Both Yates and Chad Farr were transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center for incarceration. In addition to the initial warrant, Chad Farr was charged with evading arrest.
