After resident falls asleep visitor makes off with cash and drugs

A local man who fell asleep watching a movie with guests told authorities that he awoke to find that his belongings had been stolen.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department spoke with the thirty-eight year old victim. He reported that he and female acquaintance had been watching a movie at his home, along with a female friend.

He said that he fell asleep shortly before midnight, and when he awoke he found that the visitor had left. He learned that someone had picked her up shortly before.

The victim told deputies that he knew something was not quite right when he found his truck keys lying on a dresser. He said that he had left the keys inside of his truck. He checked the truck and discovered that his cash had been stolen along with his prescription medication.

Investigation in the case is currently continuing through the department's Criminal Investigation Division.
