Another Church Burglary Reported
Law enforcement officials have been asked to investigate another church burglary, this one on Grandmere Road.
Church officials requested that deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department be dispatched to Grandmere Church on Wednesday. A church member reported when she arrived that day she noticed that a blind on one side of the building had been opened. She said the blind had been closed when she drove past the church at around 10:30 the previous night.
The church member said that she entered the building to find that the door to the pastor’s office was open, and that the front door was open with the lock damaged.
The pastor reported that a laptop computer and external hard drive were missing along with two suits from his closet. Several cabinets were left open however nothing else appeared to be missing.
The pastor told deputies that since he is 6’6” tall, it is likely that the suits would not fit too many people. He said that there were ten more suits inside the closet that were not stolen. Also, expensive electronics items had been left untouched.
Initial estimates regarding loss and damages were placed at $1,300.
