Dog Shootings Under Investigation
Law enforcement officials were recently asked to open investigations into two instances of family pets being shot.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were summoned to a home on Hudson Road where the resident reported that his Bassett Hound had sustained a gunshot wound to the side. He told deputies that he followed a blood trail to a nearby property.
He said he attempted to make contact with the residents but was unable to do so. The dog was transported to a veterinary clinic where he received medical attention and later returned home.
The second report was filed by a resident of Hudson Road. The victim reported that she had started to leave her residence but noticed her dog lying in the yard behind the house. She said that the dog was dead and had a small hole that appeared to be a gunshot wound on its side.
The incidents currently remain under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the shootings is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s department at 931-762-2276.
