Alabama Fugitive Arrested In St. Joseph Area
Local police officers serving a fugitive of justice warrant issued in the State of Alabama ended up arresting both the suspect and his friend.
Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that deputies had received a tip indicating that twenty-two year old Darren Lanze Balentine of Wolf Creek Road, Iron City, against whom Alabama authorities had issued an arrest warrant, was en route to a bank in St. Joseph. They also obtained a description of the car in which he was traveling.
Deputies were able to make contact with Balentine outside of the bank, inside a vehicle with a friend. During the arrest they found that he was in possession of white powdery substance identified as methamphetamine along with syringes and a spoon bearing drug residue.
The driver of the vehicle, twenty-four year old Donald Andrew Green, Jr., of 45 Dogwood Lane, Lexington, Alabama was found to be driving on a revoked driver’s license.
Both men were transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where Green was charged with driving on a revoked driver’s license and Balentine was incarcerated on charges of being a fugitive of justice, violation of Alabama community corrections, possession of Schedule II substance (meth), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
