New Fitness Class Offered By Parks And Recreation
The Lawrenceburg Parks and Recreation Department is plrased to announce a new fitness class to begin on February 23, 2016 at 10am to 11am at the Parks and Recreation Office Building.
This new class, Pilates Mat Class will be taught by Joyce Ohi who has been teaching various fitness classes for over 30 years in the sioux City, Iowa area.
She has training and certifications from Stott Pilates, AFFA, NEIDITA, and IDEA Medwest Conference Training just to name a few. She also has various work experiences in the fitness field.
The Pilates Mat Class will consist of a series of movements to music that will stabilize and strengthen your core. Exercises are usually done in a specific order, one right after another. The moves may look simple, but they take a lot of precision and control and ther is a strong emphasis on technique.
Some of the benefits of Pilates consist of longer, leaner muscles, core strength and stability, relief fromstress and back pain, improved balance and coordination, heightened mind body awareness and much more.
Participants will need to bring an exercise mat (Mat needs to b e thicker than a yoga mat.) and a hand towel to each class. The class will meet on Tuesdays and Fridays 10am to 11am at the Parks and Recreation Office Building. the fee for the class is $60 for six weeks. First class will be held on Tuesday, February 23.
To register please call the Parks and Recreation Department at 931-762-4231.
