Chuck Kizer anounces his re-election for County Clerk
Press release
I am announcing my candidacy to run for re-election for the office of County Clerk.
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your County Clerk and I personally want to thank each and every one in Lawrence County for letting me do so. I put my heart and soul into this job and bend over backwards to help everyone. I love my job, I love Lawrence County and I love serving the wonderful citizens of this great county.
I have changed many things over the years to improve the performance of the office. I put in a new computer system in 2003, which started letting us print 95% of the titles here in the office. Now you get your titles in a week to ten days, not 2 to 3 months like it did when the state printed them.
The new system got us away from hand writing the Marriage Licenses, Miscellaneous Receipts, Business Licenses, Boat Registrations, Passports, Beer Permits and all the other things we do in this office, which saves time doing those transactions.
The State has just now installed a new state of the art software computer system with the latest Technology that verifies the VIN’s, it verifies the address and tells us what county that address is located in. This system also verifies if the customer has insurance or not.
I served as City Mayor of Saint Joseph (1990-1994). I served as a board member with the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce (1991-1994). I have been a member of the Loretto Lions Club for 29 years and three of those years I was in the Saint Joseph Lions Club. I served as President of the Saint Joseph Lions Club (1991-1992), President of the Loretto Lions Club (1993-1994 & 2009-2010) and served as Treasurer of the Loretto Lions Club for 13 years.
I am also a Certified Public Administrator through the University of Tennessee. I have countless hours of recertification through the University of Tennessee over the past several years.
I served on the Board of Directors of the Lawrence County Seniors Citizens (2006-2016) and I currently serve on the Board of Directors of the Lawrence County Public Records Commission (2002-current). I am a member of the Tennessee Association of County Clerks. I have also served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Tennessee Association of County Clerks (2007-2008) and President of the Tennessee Association of County Clerks (2010-2011). I was voted the Clerk of the Year 2010-2011 by my peers for the whole State of Tennessee. I currently serve on the Notary/Passport/Birth Certificate Committee, the Hotel/Motel Tax Committee and I am Chairman of the Tennessee County Clerks Organ Donor Awareness Foundation (2008-current).
My wife, Becky and I have been married 41 years and have one daughter, Lori Carter, son-in-law Bubba Carter and one grandson Jaxon, 6, who all live in Saint Joseph.
I ask you to keep experience working for you. I humbly ask for your vote on May 1st in the Democrat Primary Election. The winner of this primary will determine the next County Clerk in August. Early voting starts April 11- April 26, 2018
Thanks for your continued support,
Chuck Kizer
