Man Swings Baseball Bat At Pregnant Girlfriend
Lawrenceburg Now
Police officers were summoned to intervene early Thursday after receiving reports of a man assaulting his pregnant girlfriend with a baseball bat.
Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that officers were dispatched to the Perry Street home at approximately 2:00 a.m. They were informed that a man at the home was in the process of vandalizing a vehicle.
When they first arrived on the scene, officers report encountering a forty-six year old female resident. She was reportedly standing near the front door, yelling that a man had a baseball bat. They entered the home to find that the man was “slamming the door repeatedly and shouting.”
Officers report the man went into a bedroom and closed the door. They opened the door to find him sitting in a chair, facing the wall. They report that he complied when ordered to stand and place his hands behind his back. He was handcuffed and placed under arrest. The baseball bat was retrieved from the floor, beside the chair.
Officers spoke with the twenty-two year old female victim, who is eight months pregnant. She explained that the man, identified as twenty-seven year old Brandon Terrell Franklin of 525 Perry Street, had consumed several beers and become violent. She said they had argued after which he began to swing the bat about and slam doors. She said he went outside while making threats to “bust up” her car. She said that although he had swung the bat at her, it had not struck her.
Franklin was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was booked under a charge of aggravated domestic assault. He was jailed under a $50,000 bond with an initial court appearance scheduled for March 14, 2016.
