Woman Cited For Drugs Is Caught Shoplifting Shortly Afterwards
Police officers investigated three separate incidents early Friday involving the same offender.
Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that officers were initially dispatched in regards to a theft from an Ada Avenue home at around 2:45 a.m. The male resident, age 31, reported that a woman, identified as thirty-two year old Kaylynn Jill Judkins of 1306 Hart Avenue, had been at his home earlier.
He told officers that she had been “drinking beer and hanging out” for some time. He said he went to his bathroom, returning to find that Judkins had disappeared along with his wallet, flashlight, phone case, and contact lenses.
Just after 3:00 a.m. an officer looking for the woman involved in the alleged theft, reports making contact with Judkins as she walked along Fisher Alley. She told the officer that she was coming from a nearby home, but denied having stolen anything. The officer said when she emptied her pockets to show that she had none of the items on her person, she dropped a pill.
Three more were found in an ibuprofen bottle inside her purse. Judkins told the officer that she had a prescription for the Lortab pills, but that it was at her home. The officer issued a citation, charging Judkins with possession of Schedule III narcotics without a prescription and she was allowed to leave.
The officer noted that at the time he confronted her, Judkins had not been in possession of any of the stolen items.
Officers were again dispatched around 9:30 a.m., this time answering a call regarding shoplifting at Cash Savers, located at 818 North Locust Avenue. An employee reported seeing Judkins placing grocery items in her pocket while inside the store. He said that he had confronted her and that she had been detained inside the office.
When the officer spoke with Judkins, he said that she admitted trying to steal the items. He noted that her speech was slurred and she was unsteady on her feet. He asked Judkins if she had taken something that would make her behave in this manner. She reportedly told him that she had taken Xanax and Adderall shortly before.
The officer reports that Judkins appeared to pose a danger to herself as well as the public, therefore she was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. She was booked under a charge of public intoxication and incarcerated in lieu of a $500 bond.
Judkins is required to appear in General Sessions Court on March 6, 2015.
