Thieves Target Vehicles Overnight Sunday
Lawrenceburg Now
Thieves in Lawrenceburg targeted vehicles overnight Sunday, burglarizing some and taking one vehicle entirely.
Each of the victims filed a complaint with Lawrenceburg Police officers Monday morning.
Officers were first called to a home on Dawn Avenue. The victim there reported that someone had entered her 2004 Toyota Camry, stealing approximately $600 in cash along with Social Security and debit cards. The victim told officers that she was certain that the doors had been locked before she went to bed the previous night.
Shortly after 9:00 a.m. officers were called to a Fair Avenue home. The forty-four-year-old victim reported that, sometime between 9:00 p.m. Sunday and 9:00 a.m. Monday, someone had stolen his 2006 GMC Canyon truck from the driveway. The truck had an estimated value of $8,000.
Half an hour later officers responded to a home on Delana Avenue. The twenty-seven-year-old victim told officers that when he was going out to his Jeep that morning, he discovered that it had been burglarized. The Jeep had been parked in the driveway and the owner noticed that one of the doors had been unlocked. A .22 Savage Mark II FV, bolt action rifle with a Tasco scope had been stolen.
The victim reported that the rifle had been lying in the rear seat, underneath some clothing. He said that it was taken sometime between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Loss was estimated to be $300.
Investigation into each crime is currently continuing through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information about the crimes is urged to contact the department at 931-762-2276.
