Deputies Serving Warrant Arrest Couple On Drug Charges

Deputies serving a warrant issued out of Wayne County regarding child support arrested a couple after finding drugs lying about in the house.

A deputy with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department reports that he had gone to 58 Penny Road in St. Joseph to serve the child support attachment to forty-seven year old Trina Gail Lewis. While waiting for Lewis to gather her belongings, the deputy reports noticing a pill bottle belonging to her on a shelf that was dated January 12, 2016. He indicated that the bottle listed the contents as ninety hydro/apap pills.

The deputy asked Lewis about her pills and she told him that she had given them to her husband. She said that he had stored them in a lockbox in a closet and that she did not have a key.

Reports show that the deputy noticed a mirror lying on a living room table that had a pack of rolling papers, marijuana seeds, and marijuana residue on it. Lewis granted consent for a search of the home. She also told the deputy that she had several syringes in the drawer of her nightstand. While searching, the deputy reports that he found another syringe in a jewelry box.

Several items of contraband were found inside the lockbox including a vitamin bottle that contained approximately three grams of marijuana and a silver pill fob that contained half of a white pill.

Lewis’ husband, Jasper Edward Lewis, age 42, arrived home while deputies were still on the property. He and Trina Lewis were placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. Jasper Lewis was booked under charges that include possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Trina Lewis was arrested on the child support charge and was issued citations for the crimes of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was incarcerated to await transport to Wayne County.
