Authorities Investigate Burning Of Vehicle
Lawrenceburg Now
Law enforcement officers initiated an investigation after a concerned citizen reported finding a burned vehicle on the side of a roadway near his home.
Deputies made their way to Bluff Road where the complainant reported that the vehicle was approximately one mile from his residence. He told deputies that he had driven past the vehicle at around 10:00 p.m. the previous night. He said it “appeared to have been wrecked, but was fine.” He passed by at around 6:45 a.m. and discovered that it had been burned. Deputies report that the vehicle was completely destroyed as a result of the fire.
The owner of the vehicle had contacted a towing company to tow the vehicle. Once the driver arrived on the scene they notified the owner that the vehicle had been burned. The vehicle was then towed to the owner’s home.
The owner told deputies that he had wrecked the 1997 Ford two days prior at around 11:30 p.m., when he was coming home from work. He said that he had filed an accident report through the Tennessee Highway Patrol and that troopers had advised him to have the vehicle towed at a later date because the roads were frozen. He told deputies that the vehicle had been pulled off of the roadway, but had not been burned. The vehicle had an estimated value of $1,500.
