Damages Sustained By Iron City Utilities
After being notified by a resident of vandalism, an employee of Iron City Utilities discovered thousands of dollars in damages at the Duck Town/Hensley Road intersection Thursday.
The employee reported that he had received a call from an individual indicating that a power line at the intersection was down. He found that it had been cut with a chain saw. He found that the pumping station box had been damaged, as well. He reported to deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that the box had been broken into, the bottom completely broken off and lying on the ground.
The employee told deputies that the vandalism had occurred around 2:30 that morning. Altogether, he estimated damages at $4,000. Anyone who has information regarding the vandalism is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s department at 931-762-3626.
