Inmate reports $40,000+ loss from home burglary

Lawrenceburg Now

An inmate at the Lawrence County Detention Center filed a complaint with police officers Sunday, indicating that his home had been burglarized during his incarceration and more than $40,000 worth of his personal belongings stolen.

According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department officers spoke with the forty-seven year old inmate at 12:30 p.m. He said that he had spoken with relatives who informed him that his Avon Street home had been “wiped out.”

They told him that four people he knew had burglarized the home on at least one occasion, stealing large amounts of his household goods and tools.

The victim said that his best estimate of his loss was $42,895. He said that additional items might be missing, but that he would not know for certain until his release.
