Man Assaulted Over Medication

   An Iron City resident reported to authorities last week that a man had assaulted him because he refused to give him some of his medication.

   The fifty-one year old victim told Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies that he had arranged to meet an individual at a church so that he could purchase a bow. He said that while he was waiting, a man he knew had approached him and asked for some of his medication.

   The victim said that when he refused to hand over his medication, the man threw a cup of water in his face and punched him in the cheek/eye. He said he tried to get out of the vehicle but that after he got one leg out, the man pinned him with the door and kicked him repeatedly.

   The victim reported that he was able to free himself and grab a wooden handle from his truck. He told deputies that his assailant took it from him and continued to argue with him for some time. He said that the man he had planned to meet had arrived, but left while he was being assaulted.

   Reports indicate that the victim did sustain “serious injury to his face.” The matter remains under investigation at the current time.
