Lewis County Schools was on a brief temporary lockdown due to a robbery at the Family Dollar in Hohenwald.

According to Lewis County Tennessee Schools they released the following statement on Tuesday:

"Lewis County Schools was on a brief temporary soft lockdown as an extra precaution to a robbery at the Family Dollar. The soft lockdown has been lifted and there is no threat present to the schools."

Reports indicate that the Hohenwald Police Department was dispatched to the Family Dollar after an employee was in the parking lot with the deposit bag when an individual grabbed the bag from them and ran away.

The male suspect who grabbed the money bag was reported as being unarmed.

At this time no further information has been released as this is an ongoing investigation.
