Tip From Marshals Service Results In Arrest Of Local Couple
A tip from the U.S. Marshals Service led to the arrest of a local couple on multiple drug and evading arrest charges last week.
Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that deputies accompanied marshals to 707 Turnpike Road after the Marshals Service reported receiving information regarding the whereabouts of Tessica Hope McClure, age 28, who was wanted for violating the conditions of her probation. Their information indicated that McClure was residing at the address with forty-two year old Anthony Eugene Barnett.
Agents arrived to find that the front door was barricaded from the inside with a video camera trained on that location. They detected that the clothes washer and dryer were running and could hear persons moving about and talking inside the home. They were able to gain entry through a rear door and locate both McClure and Barnett.
During a search of the premises agents report finding a loaded handgun, hand torch, baggies “commonly known by all to be used in the distribution of meth and other drugs,” syringes (one loaded with meth), drug pipes, and digital scales loaded with marijuana.
They also located $146 in cash believed to be profits of illegal drug sales. They report that Barnett did “not have proof of employment or where the money had come from,” therefore the cash was seized into evidence, as well.
Both Barnett and McClure were placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. McClure was booked under charges of violation of probation, evading arrest, possession of Schedule II narcotics (meth), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Barnett was charged with possession of Schedule II narcotics (meth), possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
