Shoplifter Makes Off With Returned Merchandise

Lawrenceburg Now   

   An employee of a Lawrenceburg business reported Wednesday that an individual who had come in for a refund on some merchandise took the items with him as he left the store.

   Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched to Dollar General Store on West Gaines Street just before 2:00 p.m. There, an employee reported that a local man had asked for a refund for a hat and pair of gloves. The employee said that she put the $16 refund on a gift card and gave it to the man and he then left the premises.

   Once the man had left, the employee said she reviewed security footage and was able to determine that he had taken the returned items with him as he left, leaving the store without paying for them.

   The employee was able to provide officers with the suspect’s name and address. The matter currently remains under investigation.
