Deputies Trying To Serve Warrant Arrest Another Man
Lawrenceburg Now
Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies attempting to serve a warrant at a Lawrenceburg home last week ended up arresting a different man.
Deputies report that they had gone to a home on Park Street to serve a warrant for failure to pay child support. When they arrived at the home, they indicate that a man standing outside began to flee. Believing that it was the man for whom they were looking, officers gave chase. They chased the man along Evergreen Street. The man eventually stopped and held his hands in the air, surrendering to officers.
Although they realized that it was a different man, deputies quickly discovered that there were outstanding warrants against him. They obtained consent to conduct a search of the home. Looking inside, deputies report finding a handgun lying in plain view. A second firearm and ammunition was collected along with various items of drug paraphernalia, including syringes, spoons bearing drug residue, scales, and other items.
In addition to the outstanding warrant for felony possession of methamphetamine, the suspect, identified as thirty-seven year old Paul Edward Chartrand of 317 Park Street, was charged with failure to submit to stop, halt and frisk, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was then transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center for incarceration.
