Family’s Belongings Stolen From Home Under Renovation
Lawrenceburg Now
Tools and personal items were stolen from a home under renovation last week, resulting in a considerable loss for the owners.
A deputy with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department was summoned to the Branch Drive home around 4:15 Friday afternoon. When he arrived, he noted that the family was standing outside. They told him that someone had illegally entered the home and that they were uncertain whether anyone remained inside. Deputies checked, reporting that no one was inside.
The male owner told deputies that the door, which had been secured, was unlocked when they arrived. He said that he looked inside and noticed items missing, then told the family they should wait outside. Deputies found that the burglars had gained access by breaking a window pane out of the back door.
Items missing included a chainsaw, leaf blower, hedge trimmers, tool boxes and hand tools, several power tools, an Emerson brand thirty-two inch flat screen TV, PS3 game console, PS3 games, and a tea maker. Altogether loss was estimated to be $4,770.
Anyone who has knowledge about the crime should report that information to the sheriff’s department by calling 931-762-3626.
