Meth and handgun seized from driver in Monday night crash
Lawrenceburg Now
A driver who is said to have caused a crash with injuries late Monday allegedly admitted to police officers that she had injected methamphetamine prior to the accident.
The crash occurred just after 10:00 p.m. at the Weakley Creek Road/North Locust Avenue intersection. Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department report that when they spoke to driver Tiffany LaNette Cummins, age 28, of 112 Jerry Parker Road in Clifton, TN, she appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicant.
Officers questioned Cucmmins about the use of any intoxicating substances and she reportedly told them that “she had injected meth earlier this date.”
A search was conducted of Cummnis’ vehicle during which officers seized 1.23 mg of a clear crystal substance believed to be meth. Also seized were a Ruger .380 handgun loaded with four rounds in the magazine. In addition, they report seizing around 200 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition from the vehicle.
Cummins was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where she was incarcerated under charges of first offense DUI, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of a Schedule II narcotic. Bond was set at $16.000.
Cummins has been scheduled an initial appearance in General Sessions Court on February 3, 2017.
