Movie prop money used to pay bill

Lawrenceburg Now

Law enforcement officers were asked to initiate an investigation Monday after a customer used movie prop money to pay a utility bill.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that officers responded to Lawrenceburg Utility Systems on North Locust Avenue, shortly after 8:00 a.m. Employees report that a customer had passed three $100 bills that were marked “prop money” and “for motion picture use only.” They provided the name of the customer who had passed the bills, indicating that the transaction took place at 7:30 that morning.

The fake money was logged into evidence along with a DVD of the transaction. Investigation into the incident is currently continuing through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
