Authorities Investigate Various Burglaries Reported In Lawrence County
Lawrenceburg Now
Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a theft from a Barnett Road, Leoma home last week. The resident reported that he had allowed an acquaintance to stay at his home the previous night because she and her husband had been arguing. He said that the woman stayed at the home when he went to work and that he received a text from her indicating that she had “cleaned the house but didn’t finish”.
She also inquired about what time he would be home. He said when he got home the woman was gone and several of his belongings were missing. He said that a $40 gift card had been stolen along with a box set of shaving items, a box set of body wash, and a pack of boxer briefs. The items were valued at around $70. The victim told deputies that he had attempted to make contact with the woman, but had been unable to do so.
The owner of a Watson Road property reported to sheriff’s deputies that someone had burglarized his barn. He said that he arrived to find the barn door standing open. The lock remained in the “lock” position and there were scratch marks on the bolt and striker plate. The property owner said that nothing appeared to be missing. He said that he had a game camera set up and that he would bring the memory card in for review.
On Saturday deputies were called to a home located at 100 First Avenue in Ethridge. The resident, age 40, reported that someone had broken into her home, but that nothing appeared to be missing.
Deputies investigated thefts from a Highway 64 West residence on Sunday. The thirty-five year old resident said that the items, which belonged to a friend, had gone missing from her basement after she allowed a couple to spend the night on New Year’s Eve.
She said that the male had asked several times about going to the basement, but that she had explained that it was full of her friend’s belongings and she didn’t want anyone down there.
The following day, the victim said she found several items from the basement had been moved into the bedroom where the couple was staying. She told them they would have to leave and they called for someone to pick them up.
Although she did not see the couple take anything, the complainant said that when her friend arrived, she discovered that several items were missing. Missing items included a TV, computer monitor, two iPhones, Xbox 360, Harley Davidson blanket and collectibles, large bag of adult clothing, and a large bag of children’s clothing and shoes. Altogether, she estimated her loss to be $1,750.
On Wednesday deputies spoke with a resident of Anderson Creek Road in Summertown. The resident reported that an unknown subject had attempted to break in through four of her windows before gaining access through a window next to the front door. She said that the lock on that particular window had been broken and she was unable to secure it. The only thing that appeared to be missing was a bottle of cough medicine.
Each crime currently remains under investigation through the sheriff’s department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information regarding any of the crimes is encouraged to contact the department at 931-762-3626.
