Resident reports home burglarized while showing man some antiques
Lawrenceburg Now
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were called upon to initiate an investigation last week when a resident realized her home had been burglarized while she was showing a potential customer some antiques she had listed for sale.
The victim reported to police officers Thursday that she had been selling items from her Prosser Road home and had arranged to show antique items to an interested male party. She said that he arrived with a woman with whom she was familiar. She said that after the pair left she found that some of her belongings had gone missing. She speculated that the woman had stolen the items while she was speaking with the man.
The victim’s son reported that he had seen the woman “with a bag full of stuff”. Items missing included jewelry, makeup, cell phones, and cigarettes, along with the victim’s debit card, driver’s license, and other cards. Altogether, loss was estimated to total around $1,000.
The victim was only able to provide officers with the woman’s first name. At the present time the matter remains under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
