The Lawrenceburg Fire Department will be accepting applications for the position of Reserve Firefighter (part time).

Applications along with job qualifications may be picked up at the Tennessee Career Center located at 702 Mahr Ave., Lawrenceburg, Tennessee from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Hohenwald/Lewis County Chamber of Commerce presents the annual Oktober Heritage Festival and 21st Annual Fall Classics Car and Truck Show to take place in the downtown Hohenwald, Tennessee, area October 10-11, 2014. The 2nd Annual Billie's Birthday 5K Fun Run, a run to raise awareness and funds for The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, will take place Saturday morning. Lawrence County High School, in conjunction with Loretto High School and Summertown High School, will host our annual county-wide College Night on Thursday, August 28, 2014, from 5:00-7:00 pm.  The program will be held in the cafeteria of Lawrence County High School.

This fair is held annually for junior and senior level students and their parents.  The informal setting provides a great opportunity for students and parents to talk leisurely with representatives from over 35 colleges and universities, as well as recruiters from several military branches.


The Lawrence County Board of Education will conduct a Benefits Committee Meeting on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 6:30 pm followed by a Special Session at 7:30 pm at the Central Office, 700 Mahr Ave., Lawrenceburg.  The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

    • I. Community Eligibility Provision for Discussion/Consideration
    • II.Support Staff Sick Bank Procedures for Discussion/Consideration

    The Centerpoint Community Club will not have a monthly breakfast in August.


    Summertown High School Interact Club is sponsoring Team Molly Claire Cystic Fibrosis Walk again this year on August 23, 2014 from 9:00-10:30.  The walk will be held at SHS at the track.

    Several clubs will have activities for children of all ages to engage in.

    Donations will be accepted at the walk.

    Please come out with your walking shoes on to support this great cause!  All proceeds go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.


    The Loretto High School Band will be sponsoring a pancake breakfast Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the Loretto Civic Center.  Serving will be from 7:00 am -  11:00 am.  Tickets are $6.00 and fruit topping will once again be available. 


    Camelot Care Mid-South will be participating in International Day of Service, Friday, September 12, 2014! We will be sorting and displaying clothing for P.A.T.C.H.E.S.     Summertown High School will host a Scholastic Book Fair during Open House on Thursday, August 14th, from 5:00-7:00, as well as on Sunday from 2:00-4:00.  Funds raised will help purchase books for the library.  Families, faculty, and the community are invited to attend this fun reading event that helps inspire children to become lifelong readers.

    The Book Fair will continue Friday through Tuesday for students at SHS.
